Bloggers Wanted for 1 year #Armstreaty Count Down
VOICE and Channel 16 are looking for bloggers to help us tell this story and monitor the ongoing Arms Trade Treaty negotiations at the United Nations so we can help put a stop to the conflict, poverty and human rights abuses fuelled by the poorly regulated global trade in conventional arms and ammunition.
Every day, millions of people suffer the direct and indirect consequences of the irresponsible arms trade: thousands are killed, others are injured, many are raped and forced to flee from their homes. We need to vamp up the media pressure so States deliver a strong and effective Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) by 2012.
Channel 16 and VOICE is establishing a network of bloggers and journalists from around the world to harness the power of social media to track, influence and shape the final year of negotiations for a global Arms Trade Treaty. The ultimate aim is a treaty that will help save lives, prevent human rights abuses, and protect the livelihoods of people around the world.
