In Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia over 12 million are at risk of starvation and are lacking basic sanitation as a result of one of the most severe droughts in 60 years.

Across the world, politicians have taken some steps to improve the situation, but action is not taking place fast enough to ensure that enough aid is delivered and that sustainable approaches are adopted for the future.

ONE International is a grassroots campaigning body that works to challenge poverty and avoidable illness, with an emphasis on Africa. To do this, it promotes worthy causes and lobbies governments to take the steps necessary to prevent deaths and to make lasting improvements to people’s lives.

The organisation works on a variety of issues. In June, for example, it succeeded in petitioning world leaders to guarantee that the necessary funds would be given to save four million lives with vaccinations in the next five years.
