ONE Campaign launches Hungry No More campaign video: watch it here

Over 13 million people have experienced one of the most severe droughts in decades in the Horn of Africa. Linked to this, millions now lack enough to eat. To challenge the situation, ONE has launched the Hungry No More campaign, in which it calls on the world community to act. To find out more, watch their campaign video above, or visit their site and sign their petition.

On 24 September, Channel 16 reported that ONE is one of many organisations to endorse “A Charter to End Extreme Hunger“. This calls for:

  • A better international emergency system. The knowledge was in place in East Africa that the drought was coming, but steps to avert it came too late.
  • Backing for local food producers. Small-scale farmers must be assisted so that environmental and price disasters do not destroy their livelihoods.
  • Affordable food. Fluctuating food prices contributed hugely to the East Africa crisis.
  • Social safety nets for the poorest.
  • An end to the cycle of violence and poverty.
