Somalia

Somalia lleva ya casi veinte años sin un gobierno nacional efectivo. El conflicto y la sequía han provocado un éxodo masivo de refugiados, y casi la mitad de la población del país se encuentra desplazada. Los medios de comunicación occidentales se han centrado en la piratería, en el comercio de armas y en Somalia como caldo de cultivo para al-Qaeda, dejando a la sombra las necesidades de la población. Cientos de hombres, mujeres y niños inocentes han muerto o resultado heridos en Mogadishu como consecuencia de los bombardeos indiscriminados de los grupos en guerra. Uno de cada cinco niños menores de cinco años está malnutrido. Los periodistas, los defensores de los derechos humanos y los profesionales humanitarios son frecuentemente blanco de torturas y asesinatos.

Entre todos estos mensajes deshumanizadores y estadísticas alarmantes, en Somalia encontramos también ganadores y nominados al Premio Nobel: Asha Haji y Nuruddin Farah; así como la destacada defensora del medio ambiente, Fatima Jibrell. Los ciudadanos de este país están desplegando unos esfuerzos increíbles en circunstancias extremas para mantener la esperanza y conseguir soluciones factibles.

    The story of somalia is amazing. in one side there is conflict and in another side of the coin huge investment is going on by the somalis in diffrent sectors. recently one of the telecommunication industry was off;oading shares to the public and the demand was huge to the extent that the company did it without publicising .the people of somalia just needs conducive enviroment and they will change thier lives tremendoulsy with little outside assistance.(Bashir)

    the most surprising thing in Somalia is that love and hate go side by side, laugh welcomes angry and peace greets war.
    what do i mean that Somalia is not only what westrens are asuming. all of what I mentioned above exist in somalia but the world emphasizes negative signs and cover positive signs.
